A relatively new concept, locking your credit may be one of the more important decisions you can make regarding your financial security.
What is credit locking ?
The three major credit reporting agencies are instituting a new service called credit locks. Simply put, a credit lock would prevent any unauthorized access to your credit report. The lock remains in effect until your allow a report to be generated.
Why is this a good thing ?
Anyone get pre-approved credit mailing ? OK, silly question. Anyone NOT getting pre-approved mailings?
When your credit is locked, any attempts to access your credit report will be denied.
Including the lending institutions trying to locate additional targets for mass mailing campaigns.
